I made my first pie crust on the night of June 10th, 2013. I wanted to make a strawberry rhubarb pie and of course I needed a crust, so I decided quickly what that nights mission was. First, I brought out my ingredients (I always bring out my tools and ingredients before I start, and clean as I go). I used the cookbook Baking Illustrated for my first try at pie crust but I will totally use other recipes. I chopped the butter, then mixed flour, salt and sugar in the food processor. I added butter and shortening and mixed it a bit more. Then I poured it in a bowl and added ice water and I was done! It was very simple and anyone could make this pie crust.
